Accessibility Notes

Parking

Accessible parking is available at the Easy Park Queen Elizabeth Theatre parkade, on Cambie Street, with an accessible parking decal. Accessible parking must be reserved by phone 7-10 days in advance and is subject to availability. Easy Park offers QET & Vancouver Playhouse patrons seeking to reserve accessible parking a dedicated phone number: 604.706.1257 Click to reserveThere is an elevator from the parkade to Hamilton Street near the QET which is available 60 minutes before show times.

Drop Off and Pick-up

There is an accessible driveway to the audience entrance at 600 Hamilton Street to drop off or pick up passengers, accessible via Dunsmuir Street. Doors open one hour before performances.There are many parking lots in the vicinity, including across the street at The Post and at the VPL main branch in the 700 block Hamilton.

The theatre does have one wheelchair that can be used to assist a patron from their vehicle at the Hamilton Street doors to their seat. You may not use it to sit in it during a performance as it may be needed for other patrons. Please speak to the Ticket Taker and they will assist you.

Seating

Wheelchair seating is available on the Orchestra level at row 15 seats 40 to 44.*Please note, some ticket sellers, including Ticketmaster, will call this row ‘WC’ instead of listing the row number e.g. RWC Orch Row WC Seat 40

Due to the small accessible section you may purchase one accessible seat in row 15 and a companion seat in the row in front - row 14 seats 40 to 44.

Both the Balcony and Orchestra level aisles have steps.

There are a few non-standard size seats in the Playhouse. Please see the seat size charts available through the Tech Specs page.

Best leg room is in row 16 and the side balcony – seats 140 and 120. Please see the seat size charts here.

Booster seats are available at the Vancouver Playhouse Coat Check to rent for a small fee, or you are welcome to bring your own.

Washrooms

A Single occupancy gender inclusive accessible washroom is in the main lobby across from the bar.

Elevator

There is an elevator in the right main lobby to the Balcony level.

Oxygen Tanks

If you wish to bring an oxygen tank with you for your safety and comfort we ask that you purchase seats in the accessible seating area.

Hearing Assistance

The Vancouver Playhouse is equipped with a Listen Technologies Wi-Fi*/RF Advanced System. Currently the LR-4200 receiver can be connected to a Universal Ear Speaker or headphones (with 1/8” / 3.5mm Aux connector) or to a neck loop lanyard for use with T-Coil hearing aids.*Please note: The WI-FI component is not currently available, but will be available for use at a future date.

Please go the coat check upon arrival to request a hearing assist unit. These units are free to borrow – with the deposit of ID or a major credit card (that will be returned when you return the unit.)

Patrons may opt to use their own headphones (1/8” / 3.5mm Aux connector)

Patrons wanting to use either a VCT headset or neck-loop and receiver (for T-Coil equipped personal hearing aids, or cochlear implants) should request these in advance by emailing VCTAudienceServices@vancouver.ca

Certified Guide and Service Dogs

Certified guide and service dogs are allowed into VCT venues. British Columbia’s Guide Dog and Service Dog Act and regulation govern how guide and service dogs and their handlers are certified. Certification increases public safety, raises training standards and improves public access for dog and handler teams. Emotional Support Animals (not certified) are currently not allowed in VCT venues.
